Other similar services
FTP search is not the only service offering searching through the filenames on a set of FTP servers. Some of the other systems are:- Archie(tm), the original service, which soon became commercial. It is sold by Bunyip Information Systems Inc., which has a trademark on Archie in some countries. Many Archie(tm) servers have high response times, one notably exception is archie.luth.se. They probably have information about less than 15 millions files.
- Snoopie Internet File Finder , a fast commercial search service, with information about 20 million files. Does not support substring searches, nor regexp searches.
- ASK - SINA, a search service giving good search capabilities among German FTP servers.
- ALLA, a reimplementation of Archie under GPL license. This search service gives good search capabilities among FTP servers in the Czech Republic.
- NoseyParker, a search service giving good search capabilities among FTP servers in the Czech Republic.
